Medical Grade Peels
Medical Grade Peels
Medical Professional peels are excellent ways to kick start your skin rejuvenation program, target acne and fine lines, remove pigment, maintain healthy skin, or get ready for a special event with a radiant youthful glow.
SkinMedica Vitalize Peel
The SkinMedica Vitalize Peel is a staff favorite at Melinda Menezes, MD. We love this peel because it is gentle on the skin and appropriate for all skin types and ethnicities. Unlike “deep” chemical peels, there is very little down time, just some flaking for 3-5 days. The results are noticeable after one peel, and really beautiful with a series of 3 to 6 peels. Skin is clear, pigment is more even, and fine lines and wrinkles are softened.
SkinMedica Rejuvenize Peel
The SkinMedica Rejuvenize Peel is a more intense peel for moderate to severe skin imperfections, like melasma or acne scars. Exfoliation time is prolonged, to about 10-14 days. Patients will need to use the vitalize peel series before advancing to Rejuvenize.
ZO 3-Step Peel
ZO 3-Step Peel is an innovative peel that targets melasma, acne, fine lines, rough texture, large pores and dullness. Paired with your custom skin fitness plan, this peel produces longer lasting results than ordinary peels. Suitable for all skin types.
Who Benefits from Medical-Grade Peels?
The SkinMedica Vitalize and Rejuvenize peels are perfect for all skin types and ethnicities. Patients that want skin free and clear of acne, scarring, pigmentation and fine lines are great candidates for the SkinMedica Peels.
However, Medical Professional Peels are not a good choice for the following patients. If you fall into one of these categories, Dr. Menezes will work with you to find a treatment option that is perfect for you.
- Allergic to Aspirin
- Currently taking Accutane
- Recently waxed skin to be treated with the peel
- Currently on Chemotherapy
What to Expect at your Professional Peel Appointment
SkinMedica Professional Peels are quick and painless procedures that take about 15-20 minutes in the office. After your treatment your skin may look a little red, but you can go back to work and your daily activities immediately after your appointment. Do not do any strenuous exercise for the next 24 hours.
Depending on the peel you and Dr. Menezes have chosen as the best option for you, your skin will peel and flake for 3-14 days. During the peeling process it is best not to wear any makeup. Do continue to cleanse your face with a very gentle wash like baby wash or SkinMedica Daily Cleanser. Do not exfoliate during the peeling process. Do not use scrubs or brushes and do not pick or pull at the skin as it peels. Think of your skin as new, baby skin – be very gentle and kind to it! While you are peeling, you may use a calming lotion to help the process along and daily sunscreen is a must.
After the peeling process continue to care for your new skin by hydrating and continuing your healthy skin regimen with products that are proven to nourish the health of your skin. Drink lots of water and always protect yourself from the sun. Find a sunscreen that you enjoy wearing, and keep it with you in your bag or in a convenient place at all times. Remember to avoid peak sun times and wear protective hats and clothing when possible.
